Founded in 2001, KUZA works with existing nonprofit organizations in Uganda to select needy students for sponsorship. Our program is comprehensive, providing clothing, books, supplies, medical care, tuition, room & board, and mentoring from caring adults. By placing children in boarding schools, we remove them from dangerous, unhealthy living conditions.
Several times a year, the students get together for retreats & conferences. These are times of encouragement and support as the students share ideas, learn about health and safety, and hear from caring, Christian mentors about how to be men and women of outstanding character. Older students in the program nurture and reach out to the younger students. Together we all are working to create the "KUZA family".

Melissa and Jordan Reid, of Riversgate Church, are missionaries in Tome, Chile. This summer they signed up for 2 more years in the mission field. A recent excerpt from their blog:
"We are currently in the process of trying to raise money for a documentary on the town of Dichato and the residents who are still without permanent housing nearly two years after the tsunami of Feb 2010 took their homes. After the earthquake of February 2010, a town near Tome was washed away by three large tsunami waves. Most people escaped up into the hills, but practically all of the houses were swept into the ocean. Following a few weeks of living in tents, the government moved people onto land in the hills around Dichato. They constructed emergency houses, basically a one room 18x18 meter square. Now, almost two years later, there are hundreds of people still living in the emergency houses in five different camps located around the outskirts of the town. For nearly two years, the people have had to use portapotties and water-tower showers. They have gotten their water from large tanks of potable water located in the camp; there was no running water anywhere."
