Safe Families for Children is a faith-based community services movement that serves vulnerable, isolated families in crisis. When a family faces a crisis like substance abuse or homelessness without the benefit of healthy support from relatives or friends, it has the potential to lead to abuse or neglect.
Wrapping a circle of support around these families, we create extended family-like relationships—including a safe home for children to live in temporarily—that give parents space to get their lives back on track until they are in a better place to care for their children again. This network of relationships keeps children from entering the foster care system and, ultimately, helps keep families together.
Riversgate Church is committed to be a Safe Families church. This means that we are committed as a faith community to come alongside families in isolation to provide help and support during times of crisis. There are a number of different ways to be involved and we believe that everyone has a part to play. Below are the different roles and ways to help make a huge difference & love our neighbors!

Mommy Mentors are moms who match with a young mom in their community for a one-year mentoring relationship. Those interested should start with a Family Friend application, indicating that you would like to be considered for the Mommy Mentor Program.
